“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.” 1 John 4:7
Love is a four-letter word that holds so much power in our lives. Love is not just an emotion, but a way of life. Love is expressed in what we say and do. But the most important form of love comes from our hearts.
The Worst Time in My Life
Sometimes in our lives we find people that don’t show love to others. From personal experience, I found that loving one another is so important.
Being bullied was probably one of the worst moments in my life. When someone chose me as their victim I didn’t have a choice of what was happening to me, it just happened. Trying to avoid the situation made the bullier even worse in their actions. She would isolate me from the group of friends, not letting them hang out with me because I was the bully’s chosen victim. The group feared her so much that they just let the bullying happen to me with no objections. They watched the bully break me down slowly with her words and actions.
High school is hard enough, but becoming someone’s target makes it even worse. It made me feel unloved and alone. I spent a lot of time praying, trying to figure out why God was letting something bad happen to me, and slowly started to get depressed.
Instead of questioning God on why these things were happening, I should of been seeing how he was using me as an example to others. Only God can judge me, and I found strength and love in knowing that.
My high school experience with bullying showed me what true friendship is. A true friend loves and cares for you no matter what. My friend Krista is a true friend. When I was down at my lowest point, she was there for me. She made me see that a friend loves unconditionally and never stops loving. A true friend uses the love that comes from the heart.
God was showing me through my experience that love never fails because God is always there to give love. Whether in good or bad times, you are never alone or unloved because His love is unconditional and powerful. Even while being bullied, I never let it affect my love and the love I showed others. I still loved the bully, even when it was hard to do. The bullying brought me closer to God and made me appreciate Him even more. Without certain trials in my life I would not be where I am today. God makes everything happen for a reason, so embrace what He is doing, for He is the creator of life and reason for living.
