While grocery shopping recently, I had trouble finding my husband’s brand of cereal. After searching the isle numerous times, it became apparent that it was currently out of stock. While looking, though, I noticed how difficult supermarkets make it to locate healthy varieties of breakfast cereals. They keep them on the top shelves, higher than the sugar-filled types, which are more popular, especially among children. Kept cleverly out of reach are the healthy ones.
The God of the Bible is never out of reach. He is alive and approachable by anyone who will seek. One need only look up into the heavens to know that God exists, and then simply call out to Him in sincerity for Him to respond. God is accessible, even though our world system keeps attempting to render Him out of reach.
Attempts to Render God Out of Reach
We see this happening through governments who deny citizens the ability to pray to Jesus at schools, sporting events or in state sponsored activities. It is evident by the banning of nativities or crosses on governmental properties. Sadly, increasingly hostile measures to block Christianity include the banning of Bibles, making it illegal to profess Christ as Lord, and the administering of harsh or fatal consequences for doing so. The satanic powers of darkness, governing behind the scenes in our world, want all access to God thwarted.
This deceptive cultural war of opposition to God is gaining in popularity, as seen by how politically incorrect it is to believe in the exclusivity of Christ. Even though in the Bible it is clear that belief in Jesus is the only way to the Father, those deemed enlightened view this as intolerant. By convincing that all religions lead to heaven, the enemy attempts to push the Truth about God further out of reach.
God’s Measures to Ensure He is Always Within Reach
God is not surprised or alarmed by this onslaught against Him. His foe began his devious measures long ago, when in the Garden he convinced humankind to sin, separating them from their Creator. Satan thought then that he had made God inaccessible. However, God already had the Way back prepared. When the time came, erected into the ground on Golgotha was a wooden cross; Christ’s sacrifice for our sin on it declared God fully within reach for all humanity. Satan wants to stamp out His Name, and make Him unattainable, but the finished work of Christ on the cross permanently established our access to God.
As a clever marketing strategy, stores place less healthy food items at eye level, knowing that these sugary ones are generally tastier and sell better. Purposefully kept higher, on the hard to reach shelves, are those more nutritious. Thankfully, no matter what measures Satan uses to render God inaccessible, it will never work. Because He loves us, God made a way for anyone who seeks to find Him. Not willing that any should perish, God is always within reach.
