If you’ve been saved for any length of time you should be well aware of the importance of faith in the life of a believer. Our faith in God is symbolic of us reaching back to Him in response to what He has accomplished by grace through Christ. In all honesty, trusting God can really be a daunting task particularly in rough time, but faith is something that’s very powerful and transformative. It has the potential to change people’s lives from the inside out as well as generation. Besides, there is a strong correlation between the strength and peace we have as believer in face of adversity and the type of faith we’re exerting in God.
Faith and Grace
Exercising faith in God walks hand in hand with His grace. The reason is that by grace God has already made the first move by sending Christ to die in order for us to be able to get saved through Him, so that we can become heirs of God. Grace is the very means through which the blessings of God flow to us like a mighty river. Through grace, everything necessary for us to be able to live a life pleasing to God as well as a victorious life has already been made available. The only thing that can unleash these blessings into our lives in a powerful way is our faith.
To put that within perspective, God has already taken the first step by putting everything necessary at our disposal; however, He’s waiting for us to take the next step by placing our faith in Him on the basis of what Christ has done on behalf of humanity. Interestingly, that’s one of the areas that God has severely restricted Himself in the sense that He will never do anything that’s supposed to be our own responsibility. Therefore, it’s a very important choice that we have to make ourselves.
What Faith is All About
According to (Hebrews 11:1) faith is defined as the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. The way that verse puts it, it’s quite clear that if you can see it then it’s no longer faith. God is the object of our faith, and the His word is the very element that teaches us how to properly exercise faith in Him. One of the key aspects that plays a critical role in our faith in God is that it cannot fail because the One in whom our faith is placed can never fail.
It’s absolutely safe to conclude that faith is the foundation of the Christian life. Although, obedience is an indispensable necessity, but faith is the starting point of obedience. According to the word of God, we’re saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8). Salvation is hanging over everyone’s head, the only thing needed to grab a hold of it is faith in Christ. Our entire life from salvation up to the final stage known as glorification revolves around our faith in God.
Our faith in God is so critical to the extent that people’s eternity we’ll be determined by their willingness to place their faith in Christ. Our faith is what connects us with a God whom we cannot see and touch, and without it it’s impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6).
