“If you walk in darkness, you don’t know where you’re going. As you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You’ll be children of light.” All these God-signs he had given them and they still didn’t get it, still wouldn’t trust him.” -John 12:36 (The Message Bible)
Light or Darkness
Light or darkness? The choice is ours. Light (a Jesus loving life) – gives us a life that is open, is honest, is pure in thought, word and deed; whereas if we opt for a life of darkness it will inevitably put us in the dangerous position of losing our freedom (to come under the control of someone else), of losing the respect of our beloved family members and friends, and leading us into a demeaning lifestyle, where we no longer respect ourselves and fall into a trap of pleasing people who have dark minds and spirits.
A Splash of Joy
I began my day as I always do. I’d read my bible and prayed for family and friends and sat watching the comings and goings of birds to the feeders outside when all of a sudden, my eye catches a bright splash of color! Sunshine yellow – a beautiful American Goldfinch – the first one I have seen at the feeders. What joy! Instantly, my day was made brighter by this little winged-one bringing ‘light’ into what was a dull and cloudy day!
John 12:44-46 Then Jesus cried out and said, ‘He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness’. (NKJV)
A Prayer for You
My prayer for you is that you choose the lighter pathway in life. That you become willing to trust in the wisdom of the bible, and live according to its’ guidelines, it will change your life!
I know only too well the difference it can make – because, some years ago, I had been drawn into a compromising lifestyle – I was lost and vulnerable (after my marriage had broken apart), I hated myself and what had happened to me and my family life, which has always been precious to me (and still is)! I was shown a better way (by new Christian friends) – and through them, I learned that by trusting in God (a God I could not see, but have learned to feel in my heart) my life could once again, become filled with purpose, respect, love and hope.
I chose to follow the advice I found in the bible and trusted in God – I liked the way I felt when in His presence and I still do. Just as a goldfinch brings ‘light’ into a garden, so Jesus can bring life-giving light to your spirit.
Prayer: Abba, grant us the courage and the wisdom to choose what is right for us, what is good for our lives. Help us find the lighted pathway and step out of darkness, and into a life that is filled with You, with Jesus, with love, kindness and respect. In Your precious name, we pray, Amen.
